VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

11/21, November Staff Appreciation Potluck

The Hamilton PTSA makes an effort to treat our staff to something special at least once a month. On Thursday, November 21, with our HIMS families’ help, we are hosting a tailgate themed potluck to nourish and celebrate our teachers and staff for all that they do for our students.

11/8, Hawk Day! End of quarter celebration of our Hawk students!

Calling all Adult Hawks!: Come join us the first Hawk Day Celebration of the year! Parents are teaming up with Hamilton’s teachers and staff to create an epic event for our students at school on 11/8. We are hoping to get as many parents involved as possible. We need help with decorating, tear down, and overseeing activities. Come join the fun. Hope to see you all there!

Please be sure you are authorized to volunteer at HIMS prior to signing up. Volunteer time is from 1:30-3:45 pm (this includes some set-up and break-down time).

Volunteering at Hamilton International

The PTSA often hosts events during school hours. To make these events successful, we need many parent volunteers. To volunteer, you must be authorized through Seattle Public Schools to volunteer at HIMS. The authorization process can sometimes take up to two weeks to complete, so – get your registration done early in the year! Then when an opportunity to volunteer arises, you’re all set.

If you have never volunteered at any SPS school, click here.

There, you will need to complete an online training called Preventing Sexual Abuse of Children and Youth; review the volunteer handbook; and complete the Volunteer Application, which includes a criminal background check.

Before your first volunteer shift, the school volunteer program liaison (at HIMS this is Sandy Adams in the front office) must verify your identity in person (or through an online meeting for virtual volunteers).

If you are a returning volunteer at HIMS or other SPS schools, you must renew your volunteer application. To do this, click here.

If you are already an approved volunteer at another SPS school, please be sure to add HIMS to your list of schools. To do this, you will need to click “Edit or Renew Volunteer Application” and scroll down to the list of schools. Be sure the Hamilton International Middle School box is checked.

If you have any questions along the way, feel free to email Tracey Graber at [email protected].

PTSA Board meetings take place monthly and are also open to all PTSA members to attend. Our plan is for first-of-the-month Thursday evenings, but dates and locations will tend to vary. So, if you want to come, please confirm the details with [email protected].
